Privacy Commissioner to shine light on privacy issues faced by the NSW public sector at Privacy Matters Forum
NSW Privacy Commissioner Dr Elizabeth Coombs is pleased to announce the Privacy Matters Forum, to be held on Friday, 8 May 2015 at the Museum of Sydney, in partnership with First State Super and the Office of Finance and Services.
“A key initiative of NSW’s annual Privacy Awareness Week 2015 (3-9 May 2015) campaign, the Privacy Matters Forum will bring together leaders, managers and practitioners from across NSW public sector and business to discuss why privacy should matter to organisations (because it does to their customers!) and the importance of customer-centred service delivery,” said Dr Coombs.
“I am pleased to announce that a keynote address will be provided by the NSW Customer Service Commissioner Michael Pratt who will offer a sharp perspective of how the NSW community views privacy and government services,” added Dr Coombs.
Mr Pratt’s keynote address will be followed by an expert panel discussion on privacy issues, where practical ideas, privacy governance perspectives and technological initiatives such as biometrics will be explored to better inform privacy practices within organisations.
The Privacy Matters Forum panel discussion will be moderated by ABC Senior Reporter Philippa McDonald, and panel members will include Mr Pratt, Dr Coombs, Stephen Wilson, Constellation Research Inc, and Malcolm Crompton, International Association of Privacy Professionals Australia New Zealand (iappANZ) and former Australian Privacy Commissioner.
“The event will promote discussion and assist organisations to share their learnings in the field of privacy protection in developing a strong customer relationship, information management and implementing a ‘Privacy by Design’ approach to service delivery and organisational processes,” said Dr Coombs.
