Privacy Commissioner Statement on NSW Department of Education cyber incident

 

The Privacy Commissioner is aware of the cyber incident affecting the NSW Department of Education and understands that investigations into the breach are continuing and the Department is working closely with Cyber Security NSW.

The Privacy Commissioner will be monitoring the incident and is available to assist the Department as needed.

Recent cyber incidents that have occurred globally and in Australia demonstrate the increased threat that agencies and the public face from cyber actors, which requires all of us to remain vigilant about such threats and aware of the need for good cyber practices at all times.
