Information and Privacy Commission's CEO tables 2015 - 2016 Annual Report
Information and Privacy Commission (IPC) CEO and NSW Information Commissioner Elizabeth Tydd, has tabled the Commission’s 2015 – 2016 annual report in NSW Parliament today.
“The IPC Annual Report 2015 – 2016 recognises the successful implementation of an effective, timely and transparent regulatory approach. The Report highlights the IPC’s commitment to meaningful engagement with our stakeholders and our realisation of better, more outcome focused service delivery,” said Ms Tydd.
The Annual Report demonstrates consistently improved timeliness in resolving cases notwithstanding an 8 per cent increase in information access applications together with delivery of new proactive regulatory initiatives to successfully achieve greater compliance by agencies.
Key highlights presented by Ms Tydd at the tabling include:
- An 8 per cent increase in case closures since 2014/15.
- The review and updating of the IPC’s Customer Service Charter to align with the NSW ethical framework and achieve better outcomes for citizens through a greater focus on customer service.
- Conducting proactive audits and reporting publically on compliance by agencies with mandatory disclosure requirements to publish a register of contracts; agency structures and functions.
- A comprehensive communications and education strategy that delivered 46 training and information sessions; the publication of 27 new resources; 311 new registrations for
e-learning modules and the provision of regular case notes; bulletins and regulatory guidance.
The report documents the work and organisational achievements during the reporting period, and outlines the IPC’s focus for the year ahead.
“The outcomes and many achievements detailed in the IPC’s annual report for the 2015 – 2016 period demonstrates the IPC’s regulatory expertise and growing reputation as a strategic contemporary and relevant regulator.
“This is evidenced by the IPC’s contribution to the Australia’s draft Open Government National Action Plan and our successful collaboration with other NSW integrity agencies to actively promote and uphold the integrity of the government sector,” said Ms Tydd
