Safer Internet Day 2015
10 February is Safer Internet Day to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world. The theme in 2015 is ‘Let's create a better internet together' and will be used to promote positive digital citizenship across communities.
“With the use of social media on the rise the message today is to check your privacy settings, load anti-virus software and ensure that you are guarded about the information you share online. Protecting your privacy and creating a safer online presence for yourself, your children, family and friends is of utmost importance,” ”Dr Elizabeth Coombs said.
Safer Internet Day is organised by Insafe, the European network for internet safety in February of each year, Safer Internet Day aims to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology.
The event is supported in Australia by Cybersmart, the national cybersafety and cybersecurity education program managed by the federal Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), as part of the Australian federal Government's commitment to cyber safety.
