The IPC supports NAIDOC Week, 4 – 11 July 2021

The Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) supports NAIDOC Week, which celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.

NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself. This year NAIDOC Week takes place on 4 – 11 July 2021 and the theme is Heal Country.

The IPC is committed to promoting the right to access government-held information and the protection of privacy of people within diverse communities in NSW, and aims to ensure that its services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are accessible, relevant and useful.
