The IPC supports Safer Internet Day 9 February 2021

The Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) supports Safer Internet Day 9 February 2021. Safer Internet Day aims to promote a safer internet for all, especially children and young people. This year’s theme is Together for a Better Internet.

The IPC has a range of community resources available to assist parents and carers, teens, kids and teachers in protecting privacy online.

The NSW Privacy Commissioner oversees two main privacy laws: the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) & Health Records Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act). The PPIP Act relates to how NSW public sector agencies manage personal information while the HRIP Act relates to how NSW public sector agencies and health service providers manage health information. You can learn more about how your privacy is protected under these laws in our fact sheet.

The eSafety Commissioner also has resources and events to celebrate Safer Internet Day and to ‘start the chat’. Learn more here.
