Join the IPC in creating a #BalanceforBetter this International Women’s Day, 8 March

The IPC is proud to celebrate and support International Women’s Day, Friday 8 March.

International Women’s Day is a global event celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women from all walks of life. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the distance we are yet to achieve as a society and workplace, to truly achieve gender equality.

International Women’s Day has been celebrated for well over a century with the first gatherings held in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland in 1911 supported by over a million people. The event has its roots in the Socialist Party of America, United Kingdom's Suffragists and Suffragettes, and other groups who campaigned for women's equality.

The ten values that guide International Women's Day are justice, dignity, hope, equality, collaboration, tenacity, appreciation, respect, empathy and forgiveness.

In 2019, the #BalanceforBetter theme focuses on creating a gender balanced world, whether in the boardroom, within government, amongst employees, or even in sports casting. Balance for better highlights how gender parity in all aspects of life is crucial for building a better world.

The IPC proudly supports a gender-balanced workplace through our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan.
