The IPC supports International Women’s Day - 8 March 2024

The IPC is proud to support International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March 2024, a celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while combatting the discrimination and marginalisation of women across the world.

Based on the priority theme for the United Nations 68th Commission on the Status of Women, ‘Count Her In’ will examine the pathways to greater economic inclusion for women and girls everywhere. While important progress has been made, women face significant obstacles to achieving equal participation in the economy. We must ensure women and girls are given equal opportunity to build their capabilities and strengthen their capacity to learn, earn and lead.

Celebrating International Women’s Day in NSW

In support of IWD, the NSW Government established NSW Women’s Week where women and girls across the state can come together to support one another and celebrate their achievements. This year NSW Women’s Week will run from 4 to 10 March, with a program of events scheduled throughout the week. You can find out more about this initiative, upcoming events and how you can get involved on the NSW Women’s Week website

UN Women Australia vocalise their support of International Women’s Day every year through hosting various events across Australia, celebrating the achievements of women and working to address societal obstacles that hinder the gender equality.
