The IPC is proud to support International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 9 August 2019

The Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) is proud to support International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples which occurs on 9 August each year to commemorate protection and promotion of the rights of the world’s indigenous peoples.

This date was decided in 1994 by the United Nations General Assembly, and marks the first meeting of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations in 1982.

This year’s theme is Indigenous Languages, aimed to revitalise, preserve and promote indigenous languages, as well as share good practices and innovative initiatives.
