IPC Annual Report 2023/24
The Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) has published its Annual Report 2023/24 today which documents its work and achievements throughout the 2023/24 reporting period.
The Annual Report was tabled in NSW Parliament on 21 October 2024.
2023/24 highlights include:
- 21 strategic and regulatory initiatives finalised across the IPC’s Strategic Plan
- 52 mandatory breach notifications were made to the Acting Privacy Commissioner
- 2 GIPA compliance audits finalised
- finalisation of 658 information access and privacy reviews and complaints, a decrease of 46 from the 2022/23 reporting period
- 560 information access and privacy advices provided to support compliance by agencies
- Release of two new e-learning modules on the Mandatory Notification of Data Breach Scheme
- Commissioners provided submissions to 9 reviews and inquiries conducted by government including 3 joint submissions by the Information Commissioner and the Privacy Commissioner
- 3,123 enquiries dealt with from the public, an increase of 27 from the 3,096 dealt with in 2022/23
- 654,942 page views and an 32.7% increase in website visits to the IPC website (ipc.nsw.gov.au)
- Raising awareness of privacy and information access rights with the release of 21 new information access, privacy and corporate publications, and 41 publications updated
- Introduction of new citizen webforms on the IPC website.
