Australia's Open Government National Action Plan 2018-2020
Message from the NSW Information Commissioner
On the 25 June 2018, the second phase of consultation on Australia’s Open Government National Action Plan 2018-20 opened for public comment. The plan contains 15 ambitious commitments focused on: transparency and accountability in business; open data and digital transformation; access to government information; integrity in the public sector; and public participation and engagement.
‘As NSW Open Data Advocate and NSW Information Commissioner I have actively contributed to development of the Plan working closely with other State and Territory Information Access Commissioners and the Ombudsmen,’ Ms Tydd said.
‘The global Open Government Partnership has voiced a commitment to Open Government, Open Data and information access and realising the benefits of Open Government as participatory democratic right, with the inclusion of Commitment 3.2 on information access rights utilisation.
‘I encourage you to get involved and have your say in support of public engagement,’ Ms Tydd said.

There are a few ways to have your say:
- To participate online, please visit the OGP website where you can register for an account. You can then have your say by leaving a comment, responding to comments of other participants, or voting on comments on each of the proposed commitments. If you wish to a make a longer submission, you can email ogp@pmc.gov.au and it will be published under the most relevant proposed commitment. Comments open on 25 June and close 8 July 2018.

The Open Government Forum will meet again in July to consider all feedback and make a final recommendation to government on the content of Australia’s second Open Government National Action Plan 2018-20.
