Changes to Federal privacy legislation

The Federal government has introduced changes to the federal privacy legislation. From 12 March 2014 the changes include a set of new privacy principles that will regulate the handling of personal information by businesses and Federal Australian government agencies.

Renewed public interest directions

The NSW Privacy Commissioner has renewed public interest directions made under section 41 of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) and section 62 of the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act).

Human Research Ethics Comittees Reports

Under the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act), Human Research Ethics Committees are required to provide a report on their proposals to the NSW Privacy Commissioner.

Youth on track - public interest directions

The NSW Privacy Commissioner has made public interest directions in relation to the Youth on Track program.

Youth on Track is a trial strategy for reducing juvenile offending through improved case management and early intervention.
