The IPC joins the International Youth Day 2015 celebrations – 12 August 2015
The United Nations’ (UN) International Youth Day is celebrated on 12 August each year to recognise efforts of the world’s youth in enhancing global society. It also aims to promote ways to engage young people in becoming more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities.
The theme for 2015 is “Youth Civic Engagement” to encourage the engagement and participation of young people, an important key to achieving sustainable human development. Youth Civic Engagement, a major goal of the United Nations System-Wide Action Plan on Youth (Youth-SWAP), seeks to promote young people’s effective and inclusive civic engagement at all levels.
Thematic discussions and information campaigns will take place on 12 August 2015 across the world, to engage both Member States and the general public to understand the needs of young people, in order to implement policies to help them overcome the challenges they face, and to encourage young people to participate in the decision-making process of government.
