Youth on track - public interest directions

The NSW Privacy Commissioner has made public interest directions in relation to the Youth on Track program.

Youth on Track is a trial strategy for reducing juvenile offending through improved case management and early intervention.

Information Commissioner appointed

New South Wales’ new Information Commissioner has been appointed and will commence in the role next month, Attorney General Greg Smith announced today.

Privacy survey released

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) has launched the 2013 Community Attitudes to Privacy survey results.

The survey is a longitudinal survey of privacy attitudes and awareness in the Australian community. 

Transborder Disclosures - Privacy Code of Practice

The Privacy Commissioner has commenced consultation with NSW public sector agencies regarding a draft Privacy Code of Practice dealing with transborder disclosures of personal information under section 19(4) of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998.

Commissioner urges public debate

NSW Privacy Commissioner, Dr Elizabeth Coombs has stressed the importance of public debate around privacy issues and encouraged NSW public sector agencies to ensure they maintain good privacy practices.

Acting Information Commissioner appointed

Kathrina Lo has been appointed Acting Information Commissioner and will take up her duties from 8 July.

Ms Lo will fill this role while the government makes a longer-term appointment to the position.
